the
process begins with flora gathered from the hillsides and her
own extensive garden. Jane then highlights the relationships of form,
texture and color as she develops each piece. The work evolves as layers
of pressed leaves, watercolors, and papers chosen from an extensive
collection, are blended into a unified design. A thin layer of wax is
then hand rubbed on the piece to enhance and protect it.
Custom wooden framing projects each wall piece. Arched openings in each
side of the frame allows light to illuminate the layered hanging from
behind, highlighting its translucency. The hangings respond well visually
to both natural and artificial lighting.
